Clifford Helps Celebrate Positive Behaviors at GES

On Friday, April 11 a special Out of the Blue was planned with the support of Springfield Barnes and Noble book store.  Barnes and Noble brought Clifford the Big Red Dog to Glenwood Elementary for a visit.  Randomly selected GES students from KG & 1st Grade were given a paperback Clifford book, which they got signed by Clifford.  These students also posed for a picture.  All students meeting Clifford showed they are models of respectful, responsible, and safe behavior at Glenwood Elementary School!

Glenwood Elementary WIN Class Science Excitement
On Monday, March 31 the fourth grade literacy WIN class, taught by Mrs. Goin, walked over to Glenwood High School to visit two science classrooms.  This month WIN students studied life science, earth science, and physical science.  Each WIN student chose a field of science that interested them.  Students used the GES library to research and create a 3D model of that science.  The trip to the high school was extremely informative as students saw a Chemistry class, a Biology class, and an Earthworm lab in action.  WIN students asked questions to high school students, investigated lab equipment, and examined textbooks.  What a great day to be a Titan!

BCEF “Parade of Pigs for Kids”
Meet the pigs! Glenwood Elementary has pigs ready for the parade. Isabella Solomon, a fourth grader, created “GT” on the left and Mr. B, art teacher, created “Mighty Titan” on the right.

The Third Annual Parade of Pigs event is just around the corner! Parade of Pigs is a BCEF fundraising event aimed to help enrich the creativity and innovative potential of our students. Specially painted ceramic piggy banks will first be unveiled at the District's Celebration of the Visual Arts show at 1 p.m., March 9 at GIS. They will then reside at sponsoring businesses, and in all our schools, to collect money until May 19.  On Friday, May 30 the banks themselves will be auctioned at a cookout on the patio at Island Bay Yacht Club. Monies raised will help fund each school's Fine Arts Department. Click here for information on tickets for the auction. View student pigs, view adult pigs.
